How Our Technology Delivers Peak Performance

Every movement in sports begins at the ground. Springbak® Springsoles are designed to work with your body's natural movement by providing a lightweight ultra-thin foundation inside your athletic shoes. Unlike bulky replacement insoles, Springbak® maintains the original fit of your footwear while supporting stability, comfort, and efficient movement.

Our patented design is engineered for athletes for maximum performance without sacrificing comfort. Whether you're sprinting, jumping, lifting, swinging, or changing direction, Springbak® is designed to help you perform with confidence throughout training and competition.

It fits under your shoe’s existing insole, snug against the hard surface of the shoe, and custom fitted to your foot. It’s only 3/32nd-inch thick, so there’s no need to change your shoe size. So what’s it made of? Springbak Springsoles are made from the two most resilient materials in the world. Butadiene and natural rubber are the main materials used in manufacturing. In fact, butadiene rubber has 15% more resilience or bounce than any material in the world.

Springbak® has obtained four patents for this revolutionary material, the first ever issued under the performance-enhancing athletic shoe component category.

Faster How?

Athletic performance depends on efficient-movement, balance, and the ability to generate force from the ground. Springbak® Springsoles are designed to support these natural mechanics while fitting seamlessly inside most athletic shoes.

There is a time honored formula for improving running speed: shorten footplant time and increase stride length. Running on a resilient surface such as a rubberized track will accomplish both. NFL combine scouts know this as a fact and will deduct .15 of a second off a 40 yard dash times on an artificial turf vs. rubberized track. Unless your sport is track and field you do not play on a rubberized surface. There is a way however to make your playing surface like a rubberized track. You can put material far more resilient than a rubberized track inside your athletic shoes. Whether your playing surface is dirt, grass, concrete, a wooden floor or an artificial turf field; you will have the same speed (or jumping ability) benefits of playing on a rubberized track.

How is This Possible?

Springbak® Springsoles are built upon nearly a decade of research and innovation, resulting in four U.S. patents covering performance-enhancing athletic shoe components and methods.

Inventor William R. Crow received U.S. Patent Nos. 5,554,694, 5,695,850, 6,120,880, and 6,589,630, B1 for technology that incorporates resilient performance materials into shoe inserts, insoles, midsoles, and shoe soles. These patents describe athletic shoe components designed to enhance exercise performance through innovative engineering and advanced material selection.

Unlike conventional insoles that focus primarily on cushioning or arch support, Springbak® Springsoles utilize a proprietary blend of resilient materials, including 1,4-polybutadiene, selected for their unique physical and vibration-response characteristics. The ultra-thin design works within your existing athletic shoes while maintaining their original fit and feel.

The technology has also been evaluated through biomechanical testing by respected human performance professionals.

At the Weber State University Human Performance Laboratory, Dr. Howard Gray evaluated Springbak® Springsoles using force plate analysis. During testing, athletes wearing Springbak® Springsoles required more than twice the amount of force to be displaced from the force plate compared with testing without the Springsoles. Dr. Gray concluded that the testing demonstrated a significant increase in stability and functional strength under the laboratory conditions.

Additional research conducted by Dr. Robert Wiswell at the University of Southern California evaluated stride mechanics using treadmill analysis. His testing found that athletes wearing Springbak® Springsoles took fewer strides over the same distance than when wearing placebo inserts, consistent with increased stride length during the study.

For more than 30 years, Springbak® has continued to refine its patented technology with one mission: to develop innovative performance insoles that help athletes maximize speed, power, balance, stability, and endurance. While individual results vary, our patented technology, laboratory evaluations, and athlete testimonials continue to distinguish Springbak® as a unique performance insole.
